Disney has recently filed permits to begin the installation of show sets/scenery inside of the Toy Story Mania attraction building at Disney-MGM Studios. The new attraction will feature guest interaction in playing Midway games themed to various Toy Story characters. It is expected to open in early 2008.
We'll need some Woody/Buzz smilies then!
Also;
Rumors are circulating that Mickey Avenue at Disney MGM Studios will be closed off for guest access temporarily in the near future. The area is said to be rennovated and rethemed for the upcoming Toy Story Mania. Character meets and greets are said to be relocated in the process. We'll keep you updated with where everyone ends up.

From Screamscape
A Screamscape reader tells us that after May 26th, the Mickey Mouse Meet & Greet area at Stage 1 will close down, possibly for good. The thought here is that this area may actually be used as the future exit for Toy Story Mania. Word is that the other characters in this area will also be departing for new locations (many to the Streets of America) in the near future as well, which is a good indicator that the construction work on Mania is getting ready to extend out into the streets soon. In fact, if the rumors are true Mickey Ave will soon close down completely and possibly not reopen again until November.

The little-used Disney-MGM Studios street called Mickey Avenue is now closed to give Walt Disney World more room to construct the new "Toy Story Mania" ride.
Walls went up Sunday closing off about 80 or so yards of the street. Disney employees have been stationed at both ends of Mickey Avenue to direct people trying to walk between the area of the still-open "Journey Into Narnia" and "Walt Disney: One Man's Dream" attractions at one end of Mickey and the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure" playground and Studio Catering Co. restaurant at the other. Spokeswoman Kim Prunty said the closed street and detour also will show up on the new Disney-MGM guide maps.
Since Disney closed the old "Who Wants to be a Millionaire - Play it" attraction last summer, there hasn't been much happening on that stretch of Mickey Avenue, except for several costumed character meet-and-greet stations, and those have been moved. JoJo's and the Little Einsteins' meet and greets have been moved over to Animation Courtyard. Mickey Mouse's meet-and-greet has been moved to underneath the Sorceror's Hat.
It looks as if the detour, a route maybe three times as long, might be in place until the new ride opens next year.
"Toy Story Mania," an interactive dark ride based on the Pixar Animation Toy Story movies, is going into the Millionaire building. When it opens in 2008, visitors will ride through a series of scenes appearing as carnival midway games such as the ring toss and dart throw. The visitors will get to play at each booth, running up score tallies. Technology will allow them, with virtual images and 3-D glasses, to see themselves "shooting" rings, pies, eggs and other objects at targets.

Screamscape sources have confirmed to us that Toy Story Mania will have two separate ride tracks for pretty much the entire main portion of the ride, though the two will combine into one track for the purposes of loading and unloading. It?s not known yet if the two tracks will feature entirely different story elements or if they will be near-clones. We can only assume right now that the two versions will be kept apart from one another, though you never know if they may try to go for a little car vs. car competition near the end of the attraction. Anyone know more?

I hope nothing messes up :kermit: Muppets 3D-I love that; it's so funny. That said, I can't wait for the new Toy Story area. It sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun and I like a lot of the Toy Story characters. It's always good to have something to look forward to. - Mickey's Pal:Mickeywalk: :Mickeyear:

Has anyone had the idea that instead of putting up walls and having Cast Members manually redirect people, they set up some orange cones with yellow tape between them, and put up some big orange "DETOUR" signs? This would fit PERFECTLY with the theming of city streets! :love:
lol, good idea, but they would probably still need CM's there too for the Muppet's who like to ask about everything.
"can you tell me what time the three O'clock parade starts, please?"

Yeah, that is a good idea, AND maybe they could have some construction workers "acting" by shouting cat calls! I really ammuse my self!
