This ride is now extinct. All that remains to show for it is this video. Enjoy.

That looks like it was a realy cool ride.
20,000 Leagues was long gone before my first visit, so I know virtually nothing about this ride.
Did the subs actually move far or was the seascape just Disney magic, and its hard to tell from that video but were the sea creatures realistic looking?
There is a 20,000 Leagues sub at Disneyland Paris, but it is nothing like this.
For a start it doesn't move at all, you get to walk through a couple of rooms in the submarine and view a giant octopus through a window.
Not particularly exciting at all.

I remember thinking that all the animals were real (fish, octopus, mermaids, etc.) But I was really young the last time I went on this ride. My mom didn't like it because I guess she was a bit claustrophobic. The last time I rode it was with my dad, while my mom stayed outside with my brother, who was asleep in his stroller. My brother is 17 now, so that was a REALLY long time ago!!

Why do they take away all the cool attractions?!?!
The problem with 20k was that the load capacity was really low. There were a maximum of 12 subs in operation at anyone time. This lead to very long queue times (I remember a 2hr wait for this once). Guest were generally disatisfied with the ride considering the queue length and people complained.
What added to it demise was that the company that originally built the subs for WDW went bust and as a result all the spare parts needed for the attraction had to be custom made this coupled with the fact that 20k was maintenance heavy meant that it was an expensive attraction to keep running and overall this was money that Disney didnt want to spend on a such a dated attraction.
20k was one of my favourite attractions, however, I do think its one of those where the memory is better than the actual experience.

I would be VERY surprised to see Disney digging up all that concrete they poured into the 20k lagoon!

:idea1: well think of it this way. the area that they could have put it in has already been taken over by another area. so, would they have put all that money to waste by building it, or was it just to get ready for the new attraction? but remember, i'm not really saying anything...:rolleye11:

Yes, I'm still not quite sure what you are ( trying not ) to tell us.
Is there going to be a completely new ride along the lines of 20,000 leagues, or are you talking about something else in that area?
