Kathy,

My family is looking to go in December of this year, but we would like to incorporate an AP as our pass. Is there a way that we can get a Disney package with an AP, or is that something we would have to upgrade to once we get to the parks?

Sorcerer, once you purchase the APs they are good starting that date. If you upgrade them at the park they are good starting the day that you first enter the park. We did this in Sept. and purchased our APs on Oct 1 and our trip started on Sept 27 so the APs date started on Sept 27. I hope that make sense.

You should consider getting the Tables in Wonderland when you get your APs. It's $75 for APs and you get 20% off several restaurants (include food and drink - including alcohol). It does at onn 18% gratuity but it's worth it. It's good at some reastaurants that don't accept DDP and you can dine at the prestigious Victoria's and Albert's. Might be a nice treat sometime for Mrs. Sorcerer!

Kathy, if I'm wrong please correct me. But if I remember right that's why we didn't have you include the APs in our package last year.

 Sorry for the delay...it has been very busy!

You can not purchase a package with the AP's included in it. They have to be purchased separately. You can do a couple of different things, though.

Depending on your dates of travel and the discount being offered, you can purchase a package with regular tickets. Once you arrive, you can go to guest services and have those upgraded to AP's and just pay the difference.

Or, you can see what type of AP rates are being offered and you can purchase a room (with our without dining) with the AP discount and either purchase your ticket online or once you arrive. You will need to have the ticket at check in, if you book with the AP discount.

Hopefully all of that made sense..lol!

And, as Belle stated, the ticket is not activated until the first day of use.

Thanks Kathy,

I think we are going to go with this idea. We are hoping for some free dining or gift card deal, so we want to go with a package. I think we will just upgrade when we get there.

Yeah the more that I read about the AP's and the difference it can make on your trips is sounding good to me. I might have to upgrade myself.

Sorcerer kathy is right that is exactly what we do to take advantage of the free dining. We also can get everyone a one day ticket with no expiration and use it the next year towards renewing our annual passes. So either way it works whether you use it to get this years AP's or for next years renewal. If you go at least more than once it is the better deal, plus we hop and by the time you add hopper to your tickets it gets $$. Do not hesitate get the AP's. plus you get the little perks, like the discounts for shopping and food. Also if you renew before they expire next year they give you a price break so it's even cheaper.
