Disney?s Minnie Marathon Weekend Celebrates Women Health and Fitness
The second annual Disney?s Minnie Marathon Weekend takes place May 4-6, 2007 at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando as part of an effort to promote women?s wellness, physical activity, health, fitness and a positive self-image among women.

In addition to the races, the Minnie Marathon Weekend Expo will again be part of the weekend activities and will take place in the Milk House at Disney's Wide World of Sports? Complex on Friday, May 4, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, May 5, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A new feature of the expo this year is ?Ladies Night Out? presented by Champion, which will be held on Friday, May 4, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event will include speakers from some of the top names in active women?s fashion, personal shoe and apparel fittings, wine tasting, mini massages and makeover consultations, giveaways, plus much more.

As for the races, Disney?s Go Red for Women 5K and One Mile run and walk will take place at Downtown Disney on Saturday, May 5. The 1-mile walk begins at 7:15 a.m. outside of Cirque du Soleil. The 5K will begin at 7:30 a.m. also outside of Cirque du Soleil and follow a route through the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, Saratoga Springs Resort and finishes at Downtown Disney West Side.

Disney?s Women Run the World 15K presented by Lady Foot Locker occurs on Sunday, May 6. The 15K will start at 6:15 a.m. at Disney?s Animal Kingdom, go through tinsel town at Disney-MGM Studios, pass along the charming coastal village at Disney?s Yacht & Beach Resort, and then continue through the 11 great nations of the Epcot World Showcase.

The weekend will benefit the American Heart Association. While the weekend is designed for women, men are welcome to participate on behalf of the women in their lives.

Registration for Disney?s Minnie Marathon Weekend is currently open. Athletes can register online at www.disneysports.com and clicking on ?Sports? and then ?Endurance? to find the race. Entry fee is $25 for the 1 mile, $30 for the 5K and $45 for the 15K.

The Endurance Series at Walt Disney World Resort gives recreational athletes of all ages and abilities the chance to walk, jog, run, skate, bike and swim their way ?around the world.? From running and skating marathons to road races and triathlons, participating athletes from across the country and around the world compete to stay in shape, to achieve personal-best times and often to raise donations for charitable causes.

Popular Endurance Series events include the Walt Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon (January), the Walt Disney World Inline Marathon and Half Marathon (April), the Walt Disney World Triathlon (September) and Disney?s Race for the Taste 10K (October).
