View Full Version : The Shoes vs. the No Shoes

Apparently this was a big thing on the last boards, and i figured hey, i'll start it...why not.
So here we go.
Shoes? no shoes? Why/why not???
personally, i wear shoes in the "house," but only because i currently live in one room, and i'm not allowed to leave stuff in the hall. oh, and because the floor? Yeah, it's gross. gotta love dorm rooms.
but at home, we had a "No shoes on the carpet" rule," which restricted shoes-on areas to the kitchen/laundry room/hall. everything else was shoes-off.

so i must have missed the controversy over this last time.
people..comfort yourselves with the thought of everyone is living and performing their own shoes/no shoes rules in their own house only.
it's not like they're traipsing through your house with/without shoes :)

It's slightly more complicated for me. At home proper I wear socks, slippers or go barefoot in the house depending on the temperature. At university however I always wear shoes or slippers in the common areas of the house. I like my feet and socks aren't enough protection. In my room usually I just wear socks but if I've been sewing recently and have spilt pins everywhere then definately shoes. Pulling pins out of your feet is never fun.
So basically beware student accomodation!:nono:

I never, ever wear shoes in a house, EVER!!! I've never worn shoes in anyone's house before. Not even sandles. I wear slippers in my own house during the winter, to keep my tootsies warm, but otherwise, shoes belong in the entrance and that is all!!

I like wearing bare feet, (unless it's cold) but usually I have to wear shoes-I don't have any choice. - Mickey's Pal:Mickeywalk: :Mickeyear:

Ahhhhhh, another classic thread. GOtta love this place.
Anyway, i wear shoes inside sometimes. If i am coming from work, I just waltz right in, and go to my bedroom.. I usually rip them off at that point, and sport the socks or feet.

I'm kinda like Sorcerer. If I'm just at home, it's whatever. But, if I've just come home from work, the shoes are off. Then it's bare feet. I'm not a fan of just socks.

I wear shoes (designated as in house "slippers") because I have 2 dogs and I'm never sure what they are going to leave lying around. Especially at night. I'm not talking about the obvious accidents, but toys, twigs, critters, and other fun mystery items from the back yard.

if there's mud on my shoes, or wet, i take them off.
if i'm lazy, i leave them on :p

 man i've missed this topic!
right, so heres how it works in my house. we have wooden flooring, and seeing as quite alot of my shoes are heals, or mucky.. the rule is no shoes. however, if we have people over, my mum never has the guts to tell them to take their shoes off!
In the house i usually wear socks. but not any old socks... they have to be odd! it's kind if a habbit now, and i feel like something is wrong if they aren't odd!
i must adit, i don't really like feet either, but i don't mind them.

well since pluto has yet to post on the boards here...i figure that (1) he'll never see this or (2) this'll motivate him to actually post.
also something on the socks issue...i tend to wear holes in the bottoms of my socks (not even kididng) just from dancing around in them...(i really have a problem with walking in straight lines...especially on slippery flooors)....so if i want to have socks, i can't wear them inside :(

there are no shoe rules in my house, we have a dog who tracks everything in anyway so there is really no point. (no, I do not feel like wrestling the dog to wipe her feet every time she comes in, except when its raining). I wear socks around the house, particularly my husband's so mine don't get stained on the bottom. Yeah, he loves it when I do that

No I don't. I never have any clean MATCHING socks. If they're not bundled together, it's all fair game. Booooooooo:banghead:

I live in florida - if possible, I would not wear shoes outside, let alone inside. The only time I put anything on my feet at home is if they are cold - then I put on slippers. They are hard soled slippers and sometimes I wear them if I have to run out too on a cold evening. And then I keep them on when I get home - does that change my answer?

bare feet and socks all the way!!
Somebody somewhere mentioned Crocs (I thought it was in this thread, but what do I know?) and look what you could be wearing next year.
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c297/debiprocter/Stupid%20Pictures/display.jpg
The Disney by CROCS line, which is targeted towards children and adults, will debut with special-edition Mickey Mouse die-cut models in spring 07.
These styles will be available in a broad range of two-toned colour options including Mickey?s signature black and red.
Other models include an array of unique designs emphasizing the distinctive personalities of Disney?s characters including Mickey and Friends, Winnie the Pooh and Friends, Princess, Fairies, as well as Pirates of the Caribbean and Disney Pixar?s Toy Story and Cars. The launch will be international to include Europe, Asia and the USA.

OH WOW.
...well....they're comfortable, i'll say that...definitely wearable in the parks for long periods of time.
but i probably wouldn't wear them ANYWHERE but in disney.

Ok, I always thought Crocs were ugly and uncomfortable-looking. Then I tried on a pair and, wow, I was impressed! Quite comfy. Still think they're ugly though. However, now that I see those Mickey ones, I may just need a pair of those before going to WDW next summer ;)
now if you have house shoes to wear those are allowed inside the house but nothing else. i spend too much time cleaning the hard wood floors to just have them get dirty because of one person.

Definitely no shoes in the house! Who knows what you might have stepped in when you were outside? Ick!
And crocs are so comfy! I saw those Mickey ones in the stores just recently, though they've only got the Kids sizes right now :(

i am kinda weird...i wear shoes inside and usaully forget to wear shoes out side...I have many meaningless shoes that bought cheap because forgot to wear shoes to a store...and plus the bottom of my feet are really thick 'cause i don't wear shoes outside so now I just don't notice....very confusing
~DIS~
p.s. I know it is gross but i usaully end up with my shoes off in disney world too...my feet start to hurt woth shoes on...well becuase i am not used to them...I wear flip flops in winter when its 10 below!
hehe
Oh dear....someone dug his one up again :whu:
