Walt Disney World has begun rolling out a series of improvements to their Bus transportation fleet that guests have been slowling coming into contact with more and more lately.
The improvements include interior LED screens similar to the outside ones that will display your destination as well as any other information they may want to add to the system.
New lighting has been added to the steps, improved AC, A GPS system in each bus so that the resort can monitor the location of every bus on property and route them according.
The buses now have automated spiels like those you find on the Monorails and will play themed music that corresponds to whatever destination the bus is going to. (Examples: It plays swing style music on the way to Grand Floridian, Dance Music and descriptions of the various stores on the way to Downtown Disney, and Beach Boys music on the way to Typhoon Lagoon.)
From what I understand the improvement have been approved for installation into the entire WDW Bus Fleet, but I?m not exactly sure how long this will take.

has anything been mentioned about adding bus routes? Between parks, perhaps?

It does! Sorcerer, I hereby put in a request for the bus music to be added to the radio's playlist. :music:

All of these upgrades sound fabulous! I'm especially happy to see they're puting GPS on the buses. That should help them manage the fleet better, so even if they don't add buses, they can better route the ones running right now, which should help increase the efficiency of the service. The inside LED signs should be useful, too. We have them on all the buses here and I read them quite often.

Thats great news. I had heard the planning of this back about a year and half ago. What would be even nicer is if they were able to put a digital read out at the bus stops advising estimating how much longer till a bus arrives.

Course to do that would cost extra money and serve no benefit to the resort istself. I guess they could sell advertising space on the signs to recoup the money but who knows.

I love the busses at WDW. They are part of the reason why I stay on site.

I am SO excited for this!!! This will be great entertainment for those little ones on the bus and great for those adults too. I wonder if they'll use these for Cast buses too like they do now??? I'd love to hear the commentary on that bus.... ;)

I too recall when the news first broke out about this. Good to see it coming into fruition. :Mickeywalk: I would give anything to be on one of those buses right now. :kermit:

It's great to hear that improvements are being made that will enhance the guest experience. Can't wait for our next trip, (Feb. 09) to see these improvements.
