Sorcerer Mickey Carsland Coming to Disney World!?

You hear all kinds of rumors when you visit the World and this trip was no exception. The latest rumor I heard is that the DHS may get rid of LMA and the BLT and put in a Carsland like they have out in the DLR! I would love that as the one in DL looks like so much fun! I've got no dates or specifics on atrractions involved for you, but everyone knows that DHS needs some brightening up and the Carsland out in the DLR seems to be an absolute success so let's keep our fingers crossed. It would be a great celebration for the 50th anniversary wouldn't it? It would be fun for all and help smooth over the hurt feelings of those who feel that the new Fantasyland is 'For Girls Only'. (I honestly believe, however that everyone can enjoy something at the new Fantasyland, especially after the the dwarf's section is done. Gaston's area is cool and very fun for guys of all ages.) Time will tell and for now we can all 'Wish Upon A Star'. - MP

I had heard that rumor too. I'd heard that LMA was being ripped out for Carsland but BLT too? It wasn't that great of an attraction in the long run and it's certainly showing its age. It was lots of fun when the park first opened and there were very few actual rides. Not that there are a lot of rides in the park now but this would certainly create more if we (on east side of the US) get all of the attractions that are available in DCA. *crosses fingers*

Heard that rumor too. And I hope it never happens.

One, if you get all of the attractions that are in Disneyland/DCA over in WDW there's absolutely no reason for fans of one park to visit the other. Well, more like there wouldn't be much reason for WDW folks to ever visit DL/DCA (DL/DCA folks still have reason to visit simply because there are more parks with more attractions overall). I know some folks are going to counter that with "but it's the original, the one that Walt himself worked on!" While that's certainly true, nostalgia can't be the only reason to plink down hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars just to walk in Walt's footsteps.

Two, there are plenty of other franchises -- other Pixar properties, Lucasfilm, Marvel, ABC, among others -- that can be developed just as easily and would be just as great an addition to DHS as Carsland.

Three, Carsland is absolutely beautiful but to have it in multiple parks in exactly the same form raises the question of whether or not Disney's just 'phoning it in' and not really flexing their imagineering muscles.

But that's just my opinion and your mileage may vary. Harumph.

I admit it's the differences that make going to each Disney Park worthwhile (as well as the ability to walk in Walt's shoes at DLR). And I admit that if it's just a reprint of DCA's Carsland that would definitely be phoning it in. I'm happy with Test Track on the east coast and Radiator Springs Racers on the west coast. If they are determined to have both American parks having Carsland well...Maybe they could change it up. Like Space Mountain at DLR and Space Mountain at WDW. Same name but different ride.

You bring up an interesting point with the Lucasfilm option. There's a whole lot of stuff to be used there. As for Marvel I've heard many conflicting rumors. One is that Disney has an agreement with Universal to not build any Marvel themed attractions east of the Mississippi after the Marvel purchase. Then I've heard rumors of transforming some of EPCOT or DHS into Stark Expo. (Not really on board with messing with EPCOT at all. It's been messed with enough. Unless we're adding another country. I'm partial to Freedonia.) Then I've heard that Universal has only about ten years left on their Marvel contract and it will have to re-theme that island of IoA at that time. And I've heard (which coincides with the first rumor) that Universal's Marvel agreement was part of the terms of Disney's Marvel purchase to never change IoA.

But either way I'm looking forward to something new at DHS.

    I'm up for Cars Land

I think the Backlot Tour is tired and way overdue for a makeover, however closing down crowd gobblers LMA and the tour at the same time will put a major strain on the other attractions, so if they are planning to do it they better handle it carefully.
I don't have any problem with having Cars Land in each and every park, its been done before with a lot of other attractions and they always seem to include some twist that makes it unique and original to that specific park, besides if they have hit on a winning formula it would be stupid not to cash in on it.
Its also going to make the Studios way more attractive to families and younger visitors.

    To quote the man himself...
    "We keep moving forward" and
" a family park where parents and children could have fun- together."

...sounds to me like it would have been something he would have done.

This rumor seems to be speeding along at a fast pace (pun intended). Last June, it was reported by Screamscape that something was being planned for Disney's Hollywood Studios. Then in July, Al Lutz reported that Florida wanted their hands on Cars Land. Then in August, Walt Disney Imagineer Kathy Mangum was moved to Florida after completing Cars Land in Disney California Adventure and permits were filed for some major reworking of the Studio Backlot Tour and backstage facilities to allow for future expansion. Since then, the capacity of seating for Fantasmic! has been increased as if they are expecting huge crowds soon. There were rumors that we were looking at only Radiator Springs Racers with Flo's V8 Café from Cars Land along with the long-rumored Monsters, Inc. roller coaster and perhaps another attraction as an expansion of Pixar Place. Then Al Lutz once again reported that we were getting Cars Land, however a cheaper version with facades in place of shops and less extensive rock work. However, yesterday he reported that Cars Land in it's full form is on it's way and could open as early as late 2015.

    Please no.

Don't get me wrong. I loved Cars Land, but that's exactly the problem. I shouldn't be able to have the same exact experience at different parks. I understand that Walt Disney World Resort is looking at some big competition in the upcoming years with Sea World opening a new land with a technologically advanced attraction (Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin opens this spring) as well as Universal Orlando Resort having a plethora of projects, both rumored and confirmed (value resort Cabana Bay Resort, Transformers: The Ride - 3D, expansion of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, The Simpsons area expansion, Jurassic Park expansion), but simply copying Cars Land and hoping for the repeated success that Disney California Adventure received is the easy way out. Continue the current theme of Pixar Place. Make it a true land with different Pixar films represented. Also, I do think that we will see this expansion of Pixar Place as part of a bigger revision for Disney's Hollywood Studios. A blog out there called Blue Sky Disney claims that they are moving away from the movie making themes to a new theme of experiencing the movies. Maybe this means tearing down the Sorcerer's Hat (which hasn't appeared on any 2013 merchandise). Perhaps we will see new shows replacing old ones or a new parade, which we so desperately need. No coincidence that the 2013 D23 Expo is eight months away or that Disney's Hollywood Studios will be celebrating it's 25th anniversary next year, in my opinion. Buckle up.
