Sorcerer Mickey New Test Track and New Fantasy land

I was just down in Disney last week and My wife and I got to ride the new test track for the first time. I had heard mixed reviews about it but we liked the old one so how bad could it be? Well we were both very disappointed. So disappointed that when we go back down to Disney in few weeks we are going to skip it. I could see where they were trying to go with it. In my opinion it just doesn't work. I don't think it captures everything that made the old one so great. It went from testing cars to now feeling like just a ride. I know you can create you own car and all and that sounds cool but we went on the fast pass line and they give you a pre loaded car on your key card. If you want to change it you can but you don't have all the options as like changing the color or tires or anything specific. If you do try to change it you lose your space in line because people who don't want to change it will just continue on the line. It seems like a hassle and doesn't really make the ride any better. As for the ride I hate how they took out the Belgium blocks and its just a big empty space now that you just ride over. The whole ride doesn't really feel like your testing the car. We go down to Disney a lot but it may be a while before I ride again.
I also wanted to touch on the New fantasy land which we both thought was fantastic. The attention to detail was amazing. It was quite crowded and we didn't get to go into Maurice's cottage. Has anyone done that yet? The beast castle was amazing. We went for lunch and had to wait almost a half hour to get inside but it was worth the wait. They did a great job inside. The food was excellent. It was really nice to order sit down and have the food brought to you. As far as the little Mermaid ride goes. I was really enjoying it for a while. The entrance was really nice. It felt a little bit like Nemo with the Clam mobile. When the ride started and we went through the first few rooms I thought wow this is really nice the animatronics were done really well. Especially ariels hair that moved like it was under the water. There was a room with Sebastian and other fish singing under the sea which was my favorite room. But then I got disappointed. After the room with Ursula the ride just kind of ended it was weird. They went from a room with Ursula to Ariel and Eric on the boat with kiss the girl playing and then the next room was them getting married and Ursula in a tiny little corner being defeated that you can barely see. Even though I liked it it was disappointing at the end. But overall i really liked the New fantasy land.

I agree with you; we loved the New Fantasyland. I love all of the natural trees, landscaping and water features. It's just beautiful, just like an enchanted forest would be. I'm so anxious to see the Snow White & Seven Dwarf's section finished! We also thought that the BOG restaurant was wonderful. The food and atmosphere were top notch; we went for lunch and will go again on our next trip. I didn't bother with Test Track. I rode that once and it wasn't too thrilling. People drive like that where I live, with the result of a lot of deadly accidents, so while the idea of high speed can be fun, it's only fun to me if I'm on a horse or in a boat, chopper or plane. Good for you for going down again so soon! - MP

I somehow managed to completely miss Test Track's refurbishment, and having read about it I don't like the idea of it at all. I'll still end up going on it but its the one ride I am so disappointed to hear has been refurbished.

As for Fantasyland, it looks good, and your review makes me more confident that it'll be better!

The new Test Track is a total disappointment. The track is the same, but there is absolutely no story to go along with it. Maybe it looks Tron-esque, but that is about it. Half the time you dont know what is going on in the ride. The previous version was far superior in my opinion. Elements of the testing were explained and you might have actually learned a little something while being entertained. Now its just a bunch of blue lights. Weird.

I agree, the new Fantasyland is pretty cool!

The new Fantasyland is very nice, but it just needs a bit more. There's just not enough in there in my opinion (Little Mermaid ride is pretty well done though!) As for Test Track, it was the most disappointed I've been with a Disney refurb (to be honest I wasn't around for the Figment fiasco). They have a screen in your car where you could simulate how your car is doing, you could show it's results, it could show something!!! Instead, it just shows you a logo for the test you're doing. They need to kick that up a notch to make it somewhat interactive! -Scott

See I'm trying to keep an open mind before getting down there to see both New Fantasyland and Tro...I mean Test Track..but I really think that Disney is putting all their eggs into the Mine Train ride IMO.

I'm completely stoked for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Looks like it's going to be amazing! I've only seen a little of New Fantasyland. We went last October before the late 2012 roll out. But we did get to ride the double sided Dumbo. And watched the kids ride the reskinned Barnstormer.
